Stripping Guides

  Agate Stripping Guides

Agates are a mineral that is produced in ancient lava. Persians and other ancient cultures believed these gems to have mystical powers. Through lapidary work, they can be crafted into intricate and ornate pieces...in our case, a ring for a stripping guide. They look unbelievably awesome and very fitting for a find bamboo fly rod. They set off the color in silk and add a unique touch.

We don't set our own agate stones ourselves. Rather, we buy them from Snake Brand Guides or from Goldenwitch. Colors are selected to best match the silks.

Some are concerned that a slip on a trout stream may pop the agate out of its frame. To date we have not seen this happen.
