The standard rod model is a two piece rod with a single tip. When comparing prices keep in mind that most makers include two tip sections with the base price. There is a lot of debate about two tips vs. a single tip. Suffice it to say that tradition has more to do with it than anything significant in the function arena. There is some credibility to the arguement for rotating the tip sections to slow the wear and tear on the overall rod, but the best reason for two tips in my mind is so that you have a spare in case you slam one in the car door.

The pricing is for all two piece rod tapers. While it does take a lot more work to make an 8' rod compared to a 6' rod, it's just a sacrifice on our behalf to keep things simple.

UPDATE 4/16/08 - Due to overload of customers requesting rods, at this time all interested clients MUST understand that just because you put your name on the waiting list does NOT lock in your price. Prices are subject to change. While negotiable, we are forced to do this to cope with work load. Thank you for understanding.

STANDARD ROD MODELS

Description: A 2/1 rod with single color wrappings, cap & ring reelseat, rod bag and aluminum or PVC rod tube*.

Price: $600.00 plus tax

*PVC rod tube is a schedule 40 PVC pipe with one end cap and a screw cap cleanout. Not gorgeous by any stretch of the imagination, but you can drive over one with a space shuttle crawler and not damage your rod. This is what we use personally.

UPGRADES & EXTRA TIP SECTIONS

Extra tip section or extra section in the case of a three piece rod.

Price: $125.00

Reelseat changes . All reel seats are made by us (cap & ring or double sliding band). If you decide you want an outside purchase reel seat or exotic wood spacer we will charge the difference.

Reelseat Price: Priced accordingly

Blued hardware looks really nice with some colors. Due to the extra time and detail involved in blueing, there is an upcharge.

Blueing Price: $20.00

Non-Standard work. Lots of examples here. Two toned rods (blonde/flamed alternating flats), special hook keepers, guide upgrades, the list goes on. We're artists, so if you have the dough and want to experiment just ask. We'll hammer out a price you'll be happy with.

Price: $1,832,021.07 (or price settled on between maker and fisher)

ROD BLANKS

Standard 2/1 rod blank cut to length with ferrules installed.

Price: $350.00 plus tax

*For an example of "non-standard" work. Check out Lee's "Greenrod". This was a commissioned work where the customer wanted the blank colored green. Not sure if he was a Marshall fan or not, but since Lee is I'm sure that the maker was pleased with the color selection. The process was brutal as dying cane takes the patience of a stone. Keep in mind that if you want a rod like this, the price will reflect the masochism that is dying cane.
