The grip. 'nuff said. This is an agreed upon grip by Lee and Phil to be the favorite for small trout rods. There are some variations though. The one pictured at left is a little fatter with not an extreme taper at the front. Some of Lee's grips tend to be a little more sleek towards the tip. The one thing that they all have in common is an approximate 0.90" thickness in the main grip tapered down to 0.00" at the thread check.
We turn all grips ourselves using either 1/4" or 1/2" wide premium grade cork rings glued together. Phil prefers the 1/4" rings, but often the best quality rings are left for 1/2". We purchase our cork from C&D Cork, an importer who gets cork direct from Portugal. |
