Ferrules

  Nickel Silver Ferrules

As of now, we do not make our own ferrules. We are currently tooling up to do this, but filling rod orders is taking precedence right now. To date, we have used ferrules from Goldenwitch, Bellinger and Tony Larson. The VAST majority of our rods feature Tony Larson ferrules (Rush River Rods in Wyoming, MN). We love the looks of these Super Z ferrules and the quality, workability and value is unsurpassed in our opinions (good work Tony!) Of course, we still plan to make our rodmaking less efficient and do these ourselves very soon.

The (very poor quality) photo at left shows an unblued NS Tony Larson ferrule in 11/64.

Nickel Silver Ferrules

Just wanted to show you what blued ferrules look like. The silk colors at left are "Chinese Red" (or at least that's what we call it). The red looks really great with blued ferrules. The lighter colors...not so much. We have to seal the blueing to keep it from rubbing off and it takes the patience of Job to get the blueing just right.

Bamboo Ferrules

This is the Pièce de résistance of ferrule art. Well, integrated bamboo ferrule system is better, but without complex forms this is as good as it gets. Want to rid a rod of even more bulky metal gadgetry? Go full on cane...all cane.

The photo at left shows Lee's first work on bamboo ferrules (April 2007). Phil has yet to tackle this, but as soon as light appears at the end of the tunnel further R&D will surely be centered on these bad boys.
